    SCALE FREE UV LIGHTS AND PUMPS

    The problem of scale build up on UV lights and pumps can be significantly reduced. There should be less need to replace lights and quartz sleeves. Pump impellers can also be protected.

    THE TECHNOLOGY EXPLAINED

    Water-King uses pre-programmed microchips to transmit pulses of electric current into the water system at carefully controlled frequencies and amplitudes. These "signals" interact with certain compounds present in hard water, causing the formation of sub-microscopic clusters. When the water is heated, these clusters act as nucleation seeds for calcium carbonate to precipitate upon. The precipitation takes the form of a suspended fine powder of tiny calcium carbonate crystals instead of the pipes, hot water cylinders, heating elements or other surfaces in contact with the water which normally occurs.

    WHAT HAPPENS IN PRACTICE?

    The suspended fine powder will either settle as a soft sludgy deposit, or will be carried away with the flowing water. Existing encrusted scale deposits on older appliances will become soft and break off. Occaisionally this may cause blockages in heavely scaled appliances and it is recommended in these circumstances that a descale is carried out prior to the installation of Water-King. Where appliances are designed to operate by evaporation, such as cooling towers and combi ovens, provision should be made to clear the build up of sludgy deposits by regular "blown down". Any scale that remains attached to the elements will be soft and is easily brushed away.

    HOW IS THE WATER SOFTENED WITHOUT REMOVING THE CALCIUM?

    A typical test for hard water is to measure the amount of lather created by the soap. The poor lathering of the soap is associated with hard water is caused by the recreation of the soap's soluble compounds with calcium bicarbonate. The clusters created by the Water-King convert more of the calcium bicarbonate dissolved in the water into crystals in suspension than would otherwise occur. The resulting water, with less calcium bicarbonate, now behaves as if it were chemicallly softened. Soap will create more lather despite the fact that the total amount of calcium, dissolved and suspended, remains the same.

    DRINKING WATER

    Unlike ion exchange softened water, where all the minerals are removed and replaced by sodium, the treated water is safe to drink. There is no need for a seperate drinking source, no health risks and no salt effluent.

    INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS

    Water-King requires no plumbing. The unit should be fitted as close as possible to the appropriate pipe and the aerial wires wrapped around it with many turns as possible. A mains electrical supply should be available within one metre of the unit. There is no requirement for any maintenance or servicing beyond periodic inspection to ensure the continuity of the power supply. No special action is required for shut downs or re-starts. Running costs are around $15.00 p/a.

    Cost effective solution for animal feeders (will prevent feeder valves from leaking and wasting water when animals are not drinking) and irrigation systems (will help increase flow of water by descaling piping system and preventing new build-up).
